Kaelyn Belloni, A Girl Again
Paper and cotton fabric cyanotype prints
Throughout art history, women have been allegorized by artists as natural beings like Mother Nature and Springtime. A Girl Again brings together multimedia and natural elements which highlight themes of femininity, youth, and nature. The work incorporates personal and historical photographs, flower petals and leaves, postcards, screenplays, and literature which depict interpersonal female relationships and the delicate nature of experiencing girlhood throughout history.
The transience of girlhood is depicted through cyanotypes because there is a ghostly and ephemeral quality, transposed through time and subject to chance, which captures the lost moment within the nature of femininity with an atmospheric perspective of memory.A Girl Again on view at Gamut, Loyola Marymount University T.P.K.
